Our modern Idexx digital radiography equipment provides excellent diagnostic quality images allowing our doctors to better evaluate and treat our patients. With the benefit of a specialist in internal medicine to consult in difficult cases, we can assure prompt and effective treatment for critical and chronic conditions. Our ultrasound imaging system adds another dimension to our diagnostic capabilities by including a colourflow Doppler and the latest microconvex scanners and transducers to cover all diagnostic disciplines. In addition, we perform many specialty procedures, including GI series and urinary bladder contrast studies, which are necessary for identifying difficult or chronic problems.
Digital Radiography
Our digital radiography system allows us to provide rapid on-site diagnoses and permits immediate re-takes when necessary. In order to advance our radiographic evaluations AMCNE has contracted with several board-certified radiologists; our use of digital radiography enables us to seamlessly send radiographs on line for their review. Routine radiographs are reviewed usually within 24 hours and emergency radiograph review is also available. Our addition of this radiographic review contract is part of our ongoing effort to constantly improve our diagnostic and therapeutic abilities to better serve our patients, clients, and referring veterinarians.
Ultrasound
Advanced ultrasound technology helps us to diagnose your pet’s medical condition without the trauma of invasive exploratory surgery. Ultrasound imaging gives us clear evidence from which to determine the most effective treatment options for your pet. Our ultrasound imaging capabilities include a colourflow Doppler and the latest microconvex scanners and transducers to cover all diagnostic disciplines. In addition, we perform many specialty procedures, including GI series and urinary bladder contrast studies, which are necessary for identifying difficult or chronic problems.
Endoscopy
Fluoroscopy
Fluoroscopy will be available soon at the AMCNE. This advanced, non-invasive modality will allow such procedures as cardiac catheterization, esophograms and evaluation for tracheal and pulmonary collapse.
The Animal Medical Center of New England is committed to delivering accurate and timely laboratory test results and participates in internal and external quality assurance programs. We offer laboratory testing in all of the following areas: bacteriology, blood profiles, haematology, histipathlogy, mycology, monitoring profiles, parasitology, and serology and immunology.
Blood Analysis
Our CBC (Complete Blood Count) evaluates the presence of anemia, infection, inflammation and overall healthiness of the blood cells. A blood serum test allows us to determine the presence of heartworms. Whole blood can also be tested in anemic animals to determine the presence of certain parasites.
Fecal Analysis
A fecal sample will help us to determine the presence of intestinal parasites.
Urinalysis
A urinalysis gives us the ability to assess the health and function of the urinary system, and may assist in early detection of kidney disease in older animals.
Blood Gas Analysis
Our i-stat analyzer allows for patient side evaluation of acid-base disorders, electrolyte disorders and ionized calcium abnormalities.
Biochemical tests are used to evaluate the various functions and health of the liver, kidney, and pancreas. Chemistry tests are also used to determine the health of bone metabolism and the presence of damage or inflammation of muscles. Thyroid function tests are used in diagnosing malfunctions of the thyroid gland.
