Dr. Anna Pesillo comes to the Animal Medical Center of New England after serving as a Senior Staff Veterinarian and Residency Director in Emergency and Critical Care at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, MA. Dr. Pesillo graduated Cum Laude from Vassar College in 1991. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1998, where she also completed an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Pesillo then completed her residency in Emergency and Critical Care at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in North Grafton, MA. She achieved board certification as a Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care in October of 2002.
In addition to receiving many academic awards during college and graduate school, Dr. Pesillo received the coveted American Animal Hospital Association Award in 1998 and the Angell Animal Medical Center Miracle Award in 2004. She was the Principal Investigator for a Hill’s Resident Grant where the results of her research were published in the American Journal of Veterinary Research in January of 2005. Dr. Pesillo has also been a significant contributor to the Journal of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, her most recent case report, “Successful Management of Severe Generalized Tetanus in Two Dogs,” being published in June of 2006.
Dr. Pesillo resides in Massachusetts with her fiancée who is also employed by the Animal Medical Center of New England as a senior anesthesia technician. Their four-legged family includes 6 dogs, 2 cats, and one horse. Most of her pets are “special needs” animals that have been rescued and adopted. In addition to taking care of her diverse group of pet companions, Dr. Pesillo enjoys riding her thoroughbred mare, Peyton.
Dr. Pesillo is excited to be part of a hospital system where she can practice cutting-edge medicine. Her training and experience, accessibility to state-of-the-art equipment, and highly skilled support staff provide her the advantage of being able to save lives in critical situations.
