The Animal Medical Center of New England welcomed Dr. Kurt Schulz to its staff on August 1, 2005 as Chief of Surgery. Dr. Schulz served for nine years as an Associate Professor of small animal surgery at the University of California, Davis, CA. He was also Chief of Surgery at the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital for four years, and the head of small animal orthopedic research. Prior to his work at UC Davis Dr. Schulz served as Lecturer at Texas A&M University, College of Veterinary Medicine and performed as Visiting Surgeon in Orthopedics at Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island. He is a graduate of Cornell University and completed his residency at the Virginia/Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Schulz is a co-author of Small Animal Arthroscopy, the first and only book available for arthroscopy of the dog and cat. His more recent publications include The Pet Lovers Guide to Joint Disease and Osteoarthritis, available in September 2005, and he will be a co-author on the next edition of Fossum’s Small Animal Surgery. Dr. Schulz serves on the examination committee for the ACVS and is an international speaker on small animal orthopedics, particularly osteoarthritis, joint replacement and elbow dysplasia. Dr. Schulz is currently available for surgery and consultations at the Animal Medical Center of New England.
